3 Ilocos farmers massacred

BAGUIO CITY — Violence erupted anew in Ilocos Norte with the massacre of three farmers in Badoc town last Tuesday.

The victims — Sherwin Retu—tal, Samuel Tolentino and Norman Renen, all farmers residing in Barangay Aring — were reportedly resting in a hut when they were peppered with M-16 bullets.

Two weeks ago, an Australian resort owner and his Filipina wife survived an attack also in Badoc town.

Last Monday afternoon, Cesar Murla, 48, assistant director for operations of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, was gunned down by two to three men just a few meters away from his office in San Fernando City, La Union.

The police still have no suspects in Murla’s killing. — Artemio Dumlao
