4 Indons face estafa raps

DAVAO CITY — Four Indonesian nationals are facing charges of estafa here after they failed to deliver P1.6 million worth of high-speed diesel oil to two Makati-based companies.

Indonesian nationals Delfian Pinontoan, Christian Pinontoan, Jootje Pinontoan and a certain Deetje Poluakan were accused of allegedly pocketing the money intended for the purchase of high-speed diesel oil from Indonesia.

The four were said to represent the company P.T. Jaya Bumi Lestari. The city prosecutor’s office has recommended P40,000 bail for each of them.

Lawyer Elvin Hayes Nidea, legal counsel of Andan Enterprises and Orelyn Trading Co., said the four were liable for allegedly defrauding the two companies.

Nidea said both parties entered into a deal last October for the supply of high-speed diesel oil, adding that he and Jootje even went to Manado in North Sulawesi in November to finalize the transaction.

But Nidea said no diesel oil was delivered, and despite their repeated demands, the four Indonesians refused to return the money. — Edith Regalado
