Explosives found under Cavite bridge

SILANG, Cavite — A cache of explosives and firearms was found hidden under a bridge here the other day, prompting the police to tighten security in vital installations across the Calabarzon area.

Found under the Kaong Sibutan Bridge in Barangay Kaong here were C-4 explosives, blasting caps, detonating cords, a rifle grenade, bullets for caliber .45, 9-mm and .380 pistols, said Chief Superintendent Jesus Versoza, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) police director.

Authorities believe that the explosives and firearms were hidden there by communist guerrillas who clashed with Air Force men in Calatagan, Batangas last Feb. 15. — Rene Alviar, Jaime Laude
