Koronadal City A former secretary of the city council was found dead with several stab wounds inside a room of a resort she partly owned in Tantangan, South Cotabato Wednesday morning, police said.
Probers were still clueless on the killing of 67-year-old Letty Sumagaysay who had just arrived from a short vacation in the United States and checked in at the resort in Barangay Libas, Tantangan town last Tuesday afternoon.
Sumagaysay retired as Sangguniang Panglungsod secretary two years ago after serving the city government for 30 years.
Police said she was found tied up and "without an underwear" by her relatives and resort personnel at about 7 a.m. Wednesday in a room near the resorts swimming pool.
Jomar Surmuion, the resort manager, refused to issue any statement, saying the investigation was still ongoing.
Police, too, could not still comment on the killing initially believed perpetrated by burglars.
City officials and employees, led by Mayor Fernando Miguel, condemned Sumagaysays killing and urged the police to speed up their investigation.
