Isabela dad wounded, child killed in attack

GAMU, Isabela A councilor of this town was critically wounded while his 14-year-old daughter was killed during an ambush here early yesterday morning, police said.
Senior Superintendent Napoleon Estilles, provincial police director, said second-term councilor Manuel Morillo, 48, and his daughter, Kimberly, were on their way home on board a motorcycle when they were chased along the Roxas-Gamu Road by two helmet-wearing, motorcycle-riding men.
Police said the gunmen hit father and daughter in the nape and abdomen.
Morillo was in serious condition at the Ilagan District General Hospital. His daughter did not reach the hospital alive.
Witnesses said the gunmen fled toward Roxas town after the incident. Police found several spent caliber .45 shells at the crime scene.
Probers were still establishing the motive behind the attack.
