Showbiz wannabe raped, slain by cousin

- Non Alquitran -
The dream of a 15-year-old Antipolo City student of becoming an actress was cut short last Saturday when she was raped and stabbed 20 times by her drunken cousin.

Police said the victim, Julie Ann Boyco, a high school junior, died while she was being treated of stab wounds in different parts of the body at the Unciano General Hospital.

Her cousin, Renan Jacosalem, 25, himself sustained two stab wounds. He is confined at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Marikina City.

SPO2 Vic Madamba said Boyco and Jacosalem were both staying in a house at Victoria Ville Subdivision in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Antipolo City.

Boyco had dreamt of becoming an actress, having appeared in short roles on television.

Police said a drunken Jacosalem arrived home at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, and armed with a fan knife, grabbed Boyco and dragged her inside the comfort room.

Jacosalem succeeded in raping Boyco. However, after she was molested, she managed to grab the knife from her cousin and stabbed him twice while she shouted for help.

Jacosalem grabbed back the knife and stabbed her 20 times.

Responding neighbors and barangay officials collared Jacosalem while he was about to escape.

Boyco was rushed to the Unciano General Hospital where before she died, she told her attending doctors that Jacosalem had raped her.

Jacosalem chose to remain silent over the accusations. He is under heavy police guard to prevent him from escaping.
