The lawman, Adonis Dumpit, however, denied involvement in the incidents but later yielded his service firearm, a caliber .45 pistol, to his superiors.
He submitted himself to paraffin tests and was charged with frustrated murder in the afternoon in relation to the second shooting where two men were wounded. He is under detention.
In the first incident, Dumpit allegedly shot without provocation at about 1 a.m. a certain Federico Tabon, 31, who died from three gunshot wounds.
Two hours later, Dumpit was again identified as having shot and wounded two men, Wilson Borja, 30, and Rolando Mejarito, 20. He denied being involved in the incident.
Dumpit also denied shooting Tabon, saying witnesses described the assailant as short, about 52" tall, chubby and fair-skinned. The policeman is taller at 56", lean and darker-skinned.
He claimed to have been wearing short pants and a blue shirt, which did not match the description provided by an eyewitness, a female storeowner, who said the assailant wore a baseball cap, brown shirt and blue denim pants. Freeman News Service
