Triggerman in Manalo slay nabbed

Police intelligence agents arrested the alleged triggerman in the Aug. 5 killing of Batangas journalist Arnnel Manalo, in Baclaran, Parañaque City yesterday.

The arrest of Michael Garcia came four days after Director General Edgar Aglipay took over the helm of the Philippine National Police. Aglipay vowed to go after the killers of provincial journalists.

Behind Garcia’s arrest were men of the PNP Directorate for Intelligence under Chief Superintendent Robert Delfin. He is expected to be presented to the media at Camp Crame today.

Garcia, a native of San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija, was positively identified by Manalo’s brother Apollo who was with the slain journalist when he was gunned down in Bauan, Batangas.

Garcia has pending cases of robbery and homicide in Nueva Ecija.
