Labor dispute eyed in textile exec’s slay

Police are eyeing a labor dispute, among other angles, in the killing in Antipolo City of an executive of a Valenzuela City-based textile company.

Senior Superintendent Leo—cadio Santiago, Rizal police director, said probers are working with the management of General Textile Mills where the victim, Valentin de Guzman, was a finance officer.

De Guzman was found dead with a bullet wound in the head in the back seat of a Mitsubishi Lancer in Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo City last Saturday night.

"All leads are being followed up, including the labor dispute and fiscal concerns of the victim. Our investigators are coordinating with the company owners and the victim’s family to establish the motive for the killing," Santiago said.

Quoting witnesses, Superintendent Benjamin de los Santos, Antipolo police chief, said the Mitsubishi Lancer was followed by a Toyota Revo when it was driven to a remote subdivision in Barangay Mayamot. — Christina Mendez
