ZAMBOANGA CITY Military intelligence forces captured two members of kidnap-for-ransom-group (KFRG) during a lightning raid in a secluded hideout in a remote village in Maguindanao province on Friday.
The troops, under the 12th Intelligence Security Unit and reconnaissance combat unit of the 6th Infantry Battalion, also recovered a cache of high-powered firearms during the raid in Barangay Kalokalo, Kabuntalan town.
Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Generoso Senga identified the captured gang members as Jerry Usop and Regala Akmad, suspected members of the Pentagon Gang, the criminal group whose members are mostly members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) lost command.
Senga said the troops aboard four speedboats, stormed the safehouse of the suspects located in the criss-crossing river of Barangay Kalokalo and caught the suspects by surprise.
"The said safehouse was being utilized by the KFRG to cache materials on illegal activities," Senga said in his statement. Roel Pareño
