P5-M shabu seized in Cebu bust

Some two kilos of shabu worth P5 million were seized by agents of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group from a suspected drug trafficker in a Cebu City pier last weekend.

According to reports reaching Camp Crame, the suspect, Willy Solon, 32, fell after the PNP Maritime Group got a tip that a drug courier was arriving in Cebu on board a commercial vessel, carrying an undetermined amount of shabu.

A team of the PNP Maritime Group collared Solon as he was disembarking from the M/V Princess of the Universe at Pier 5.

When his big luggage and two small bags were searched, the policemen found big plastic packs containing more than two kilos of shabu.

Solon was detained at the PNP Maritime Group regional office in Cebu while awaiting the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, against him.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested 30-year-old Luis Francisco, tagged as the top drug personality in Region 11 (Southern Mindanao), in Davao City recently. — Christina Mendez
