NPAs tagged in slay of Aurora councilor’s son

-
CAMP AQUINO, Tarlac — The military has tagged the New People’s Army (NPA) in the July 20 killing of the 18-year-old son of a municipal councilor in Aurora.

Lt. Gen. Romeo Dominguez, commanding officer of the Armed Forces’ Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom), said "there is no doubt" that NPA rebels were behind the killing of Jeffrey Verances, son of councilor Herminio Verances of San Luis, Aurora.

Dominguez added though that the police are also looking into "all other possible angels" in the killing.

Jeffrey, a high school senior, was reported missing on July 20. Three days later, his body was found in Sitio Palukpol in Barangay Ditumabo, San Luis town.

His body bore gunshot wounds and signs of torture, Dominguez said. — Benjie Villa, James Mananghaya
