Mild quake hits Ilocos Norte, Cagayan

A mild tectonic earthquake jolted some parts of Ilocos Norte and Cagayan provinces at exactly 7:32 a.m. yesterday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs said movement of the Vigan-Vintar Fault triggered the earthquake and its epicenter was located 19 kilometers northeast of Laoag City.
The quake registered a magnitude of 3.4 on the Richter Scale but it was felt only at Intensity 2 in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte and Penablanca, Cagayan, Phivolvs also said.
The quake is expected neither to cause damage nor be followed by aftershocks, Phivolcs added. Felix delos Santos
