PUJs in 4 regions to roll back fares

CEBU CITY — Public utility jeepneys (PUJs) from four regions — Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas and Eastern Visayas — have offered to voluntarily roll back their fares, the head of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said.

LTFRB chairman Elena Bautista said the PUJ groups made the voluntary offer less than three weeks after the agency approved an average of P1.50 increase in the minimum jeepney fare.

The PUJ groups, she said, considered the very minimal wage adjustments approved by their respective regional wage boards. — Marichu Villanueva
