Cebu canvass stalled anew
July 1, 2004 | 12:00am
CEBU The canvassing for the Cebu gubernatorial race was suspended anew after the Commission on Elections first division elevated the pre-proclamation cases to the Comelec en banc.
Comelec Commissioner Rufino Javier ordered the cases elevated to the commission en banc after gubernatorial candidate Celestino Martinez Jr. filed a motion for reconsideration of an earlier decision that denied a pre-proclamation protest for lack of merit.
At almost noon the other day, Edwin Cadungog, chairman of the provincial board of canvassers, suspended the canvassing until the motion for consideration that Martinez filed is heard or resolved. Freeman News Service
