An Intensity 6 tectonic earthquake hit Tubigon town in Bohol at about 5:28 a.m. yesterday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The earthquake, which registered a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale, was triggered by the movement of an offshore fault north of Clarin, Bohol.

Its epicenter was located at 33 kilometers south of Cebu City.

Phivolcs said the temblor was also felt at Intensity 5 in Loboc, Bohol; Intensity 4 in Corrella, Bohol and Cebu City; and Intensity 3 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol and Lapu-Lapu City and Argao, both in Cebu.

Phivolcs said the earthquake caused slight damage to structures in Tubigon. No details though were immediately available.
