In view of the collapse of Pasil Bridge in Kalinga and the Bomba Bridge in Candaba, Pampanga, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said it will conduct a thorough review and assessment of all ongoing bridge projects to ensure that they are structurally sound and safe for public use.
The assessment will be conducted by the departments quality assurance units (QAUs) composed of engineers from the Bureau of Research and Standards (BRS), Bureau of Design (BOD) and Bureau of Construction (BOC), as soon as possible.
The DPWH said in a statement that it welcomes an investigation into the collapse of the Pasil and Bomba bridges to determine its causes and find out who should be held liable.
