Police said councilmen Josel Mabait, Tomas Castillo, Nestor Maiquis and Renato de la Rosa and Mabait’s wife, Gretel, were cruising the national highway in Barangay Sambat aboard an Isuzu Crosswind when two men blocked their path and fired at them.
Mrs. Mabait, who was driving the vehicle, died while she was being rushed to the Mercado Hospital here. Her husband sustained two bullet wounds in the abdomen. The other councilmen survived unscathed.
