Armored van rob death toll now 5

The death toll in the armored van robbery in Rodriguez, Rizal last Monday rose from three to five following the deaths of another security guard and a civilian.

Senior Superintendent Leocadio Santiago, Rizal police director, said Evis Garcia, a security guard of the Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC), and civilian Adoracion Pascual died late Monday night due to gunshot wounds.

Garcia shot it out with the robbers and sustained multiple bullet wounds. Pascual was hit in the thigh but died of a heart attack.

Garcia’s fellow security guard, Noel de la Peña, earlier died. Two of the four robbers were killed in a police shootout. — Non Alquitran
