GSIS bares new hospital benefits

-
The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has announced the opening of another assistance window for members and their dependents – quality medical care through substantial discounts in accredited hospitals.

The new GSIS Hospitalization Support Program (GHSP) entitles GSIS members, their dependents and retirees to discount rates as high as 50 percent on costs of hospitalization, medical procedures and consultations.

The Perpetual Succor Hospital in Cebu is the first hospital to be accredited under the program. It is set to sign with the GSIS today a five-year agreement specifying the role and commitments of both parties in implementing the GHSP.

Winston Garcia, GSIS president and general manager, said the new GSIS healthcare program was developed upon the instructions of President Arroyo to assist GSIS members in shouldering the high cost of current medical care in the country.

Under the GHSP, he said the GSIS will purchase equipment up to a maximum value of P50 million needed by affiliate hospitals in cities and highly urbanized areas, and P30 million in other areas.
