Cebu drug pushers nabbed

Four suspected drug pushers including an alleged leader of a drug group in Cebu City were arrested by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in a series of operations over the weekend.

Wilfredo Cabanit, alias Law-Law, a resident of Magsaysay Street, Barangay Pasil, Cebu City and Rodrigo Marayan were arrested for possession of 310 grams of shabu worth P621,600.

Cabanit, who was the alleged leader of the Cabanit drug group operating in Cebu, was arrested first at around 6 a.m. last Saturday by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Enriquita Belarmino of RTC branch 57 in Cebu City.

The raid by PDEA and the Cebu City Police in Cabanit’s house yielded 81.38 grams of shabu.

Marayan was tagged by the police as a member of Cabanit’s group. The police confiscated 61.36 grams of shabu and a .38 caliber paltik revolver from him.

Both suspects are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, two suspected peddlers identified as Celestino Cruz and Ricardo Torreon, both of Cebu City, were also arrested by operatives of PDEA.

Confiscated from Cruz were 58.01 grams of shabu and one .38 caliber revolver while operatives recovered from Torreon some 55.77 grams of shabu and one .38 caliber revolver.
