Violators of Comelec gun ban arrested

Two residents of Iloilo City were arrested by the local police for violating the election gun ban of the Commission of Elections (Comelec) recently.
First to be arrested was Jose Ma. Celso Diaz, 47, a resident of Remons Subdivision in Jaro, Iloilo City. He yielded a caliber .38 revolver during a body search conducted by the police at the Jaro Plaza at 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 27.
Barely 24 hours later, the local police nabbed Leo Colombores, 22, a resident of Barangay Rizal in La Paz town. He was accosted at a checkpoint in Magdalao Street where he was found to be in possession of a caliber .22 Magnum revolver with a spent shell inside the cylinder.
Meanwhile, in Ormoc City, the City Mobile Group (CMG) has also arrested a violator of the Comelec gun ban after conducting a saturation drive in Sitio Maigang, Barangay San Juan on Sunday.
CMG chief Police Superintendent Cesar Perin identified the suspect as Jerry Homongaya, 30, single, a farmer and a resident of the said place.
SPO1 Esmeraldo Mercado said they went to the area to respond to an information that an armed local toughie was drinking with his friends. He said that the informant want the suspect to be apprehended for fear that he would create trouble.
The suspect yielded one caliber .38 revolver with one empty shell and four live ammunition, along with two 10-inch bladed knives placed inside a clutch bag. Christina Mendez, Roberto Dejon
