HK offers bounty for Pinoy’s arrest

- Bebot Sison Jr., Cecille Suerte Felipe -
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has intensified its hunt for a Filipino linked to the killing of an American couple in Hong Kong last April.

This, after the relatives of suspect Magno Manalili failed to turn him over to authorities last week, as they earlier had promised.

The Hong Kong government has offered HK400,000, or about P2.8 million, for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of Manalili. The reward is reportedly up only until February 2004.

Manalili is wanted for the killing of Ng Ka-mong and his wife, Sun King-man, both American citizens and university professors, inside their house in Shatin, Hong Kong. They were found dead on April 14.

Before the killing, Manalili reportedly tried to borrow money from the couple — his employers — but they turned him down because he still had other debts with them.

"His eventual termination from his job apparently triggered the killing," an NBI agent said.
