KORONADAL CITY Police are hunting down a younger brother of former South Cotabato Rep. Hilario de Pedro III for the fatal shooting of a nephew here last Wednesday morning.
Superintendent Florendo Quidilla, city police chief, said the suspect, Glicerio de Pedro, eluded arrest after allegedly shooting his nephew, Francis Moreno Yanke de Pedro, 29.
The victim was shot in the chest. Police found a caliber .45 pistol and several empty shells in the crime scene.
"Parang nagkasalubong lang daw yata itong dalawa tapos nagkabarilan na (It seemed that the two merely chanced upon each other and then the shooting ensued)," said SPO4 Elmer Apura, chief investigator of the city police.
He said they were still looking into the motive behind the shooting, although initially, he said probers were eyeing a conflict about land. He did not give further details.
Former Rep. De Pedro reportedly refused to say anything about the incident.
