Arroyo gives out land titles to Mandaue folk

-
CEBU — President Arroyo gave out 18 land titles to qualified beneficiaries of the new resettlement housing project in Canduman, Mandaue City the other day.

She also gave out P1 million in checks to urban poor cooperatives and ordered Housing Secretary Michael Defensor to expedite the release of P100 million for a medium-rise housing project in Barangay Looc that is expected to benefit more than 400 fire-stricken families.

Mrs. Arroyo also promised the Man—dauehanons rice and housing materials for fire victims in Sitio Aroma, Barangay Subangdaku, and the renovation of and purchase of laboratory equipment for the Mandaue District Hospital.

To further develop Mandaue as an urban area, Mrs. Arroyo ordered the immediate reclassification of foreshore lands in the city.

She said Mandaue City has become the center of industry in Cebu and in the entire Visayas that it must expand its development sites.

Mrs. Arroyo gave assurance that for as long as she is president, she would help Mandaue in its development projects.

In response, the 8,000 or so urban poor in attendance renewed their support for her. — Freeman News Service
