Cyber-prostitution: A new sideline for decent women
October 28, 2003 | 12:00am
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY A very upset husband here, identified only by the pseudonym Juan dela Cruz, complained that his wife, a government employee, has taken to what he called "cyber-prostitution."
In a letter to dxIF-Bombo Radyo station manager Jun Albino, Dela Cruz related how he discovered that his wife had been prostituting herself to an international clientele via a private room in a local Internet café.
"Yes, my wife takes off her clothes in front of a web camera in a private room of some Internet café in this city. She displays her whole naked body to some of her regular cyber-sex clients. She gets paid doing it in US dollars through a Western Union money transfer outlet," he said in his letter, a copy of which was obtained by The STAR.
Dela Cruz, who described himself as "a proud father to three daughters" and "a popular university professor who comes from a good family in Cagayan de Oro City," learned of his wifes "cyber-activities" when "my friend in the United States of America called me regarding his seeing my wife on the Internet" performing a sexual act "inside an Internet cafés private room."
"My friend was one of the many clients my wife had for that afternoon. My friend emailed me a video clip of my wife to prove to me his point," he said.
"It was a devastating video for me. I couldnt believe my eyes. I am deeply hurt as a father, a husband and as a man," he added.
Armed with the video clip, Dela Cruz confronted his wife, who admitted it. She also confessed to earning $2,000 a month from her Internet sessions.
"Our marriage is now on the rocks. I lost a good friend, a decent wife, a loving mother (to my daughters)," he lamented.
Dela Cruz identified the Internet cafés as the Synergy Internet and Games, located at 12th St., Nazareth fronting San Antonio Church; Yerlink Internet Café, 12th-22nd Sts., Nazareth; Extreme Internet Café, Xavier Square, Xavier Estates, fronting XU High School; and some internet cafés near or around Liceo de Cagayan University and Xavier University.
