Invest in security

- Eva Visperas -
DAGUPAN CITY — Dagupan City police chief Supt. Noli Taliño has advised bankers here to invest in security measures as another bank in this city was robbed by unidentified robbers on Saturday.

The robbers carted away close to P1 million, bank employees said.

The robbery took place only a day after a Bank of Commerce teller, who picked up P3.5 million from another bank, was victimized by unidentified holdup men.

Taliño said most of the banks here do not have security guards at night and their buildings are not equipped with safety measures.

He said owners and managers of banks, pawnshops and other lending institutions here should request the police to conduct security survey in the area and invest in security measures like posting security guards on bank premises not only during banking hours but also at night and during holidays.

Taliño added that police cannot always patrol the areas so banks should have their own security measures.

In earlier meetings with the bankers association of Dagupan, he said the bank managers had complained that they had already relayed their request for police protection but these were not acted upon.

Another meeting was scheduled with the bankers to discuss ways to properly secure the establishments.
