Isabela’s Dy says it's Danding or nothing

ILAGAN, Isabela — Aside from former Ambassador Eduardo "Danding" Cojuangco, the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) has no other presidential material within its ranks, a high-ranking NPC official said.

Isabela Governor and NPC national president Faustino Dy Jr., admitted on Wednesday the party’s incapability to field its own presidential candidate if the former ambassador opts to remain in the political sideline.

"We have many presidential materials but we don’t have the likes of Danding who is not only capable but has all the winning chance," Dy said.

According to Dy, Cojuangco is still in the process of "soul-searching" whether to run for president or not. But if he opts to run he will make sure that there would be no repeat of the 1992 debacle when the NPC, with Cojuangco as its presidential candidate, landed number three in the presidential race.

One of the most influential political figures in Cagayan Valley, Dy has predicted a landslide win for Cojuangco in the region should the former Marcos crony decides to make another bid for the presidency.

Earlier, Dy’s partymates in the region, Governors Rodolfo Agbayani and Edgar Lara of Nueva Vizcaya and Cagayan, vowed their all-out support to a Cojuangco Presidential candidacy in 2004.
