No word yet on seized Iligan trader

ILIGAN CITY — Police are facing a blank wall in the abduction of a local trader whose kidnappers are reportedly demanding a P30-million ransom.

The victim, Marcelino Siao, owner of Nema Enterprises here, was seized on the night of Aug. 11. His family confirmed the abduction and said that P30 million was being sought for his release.

Police, however, said Siao’s family has since kept silent on any developments in the case.

The abduction has alarmed local businessmen, prompting them to take precautions against falling prey to kidnapping syndicates.

In Marawi City, Mayor Omar Solitario Ali has deployed some of his men to two towns in Lanao del Sur to check whether the kidnappers are keeping Siao there. — Lino de la Cruz
