Nueva Vizcaya illegal gun shop raided

SOLANO, Nueva Vizcaya — Two men were arrested and at least 30 assorted firearms were seized when a joint team of the local police and Camp Crame swooped down on a clandestine gun-making shop here the other day.

The two arrested suspects, Cresencio Peregrino, 67, and Jorge Paladin, 53, were immediately brought to the prosecutor’s office for the filing of charges against them.

The raiding team, led by Chief Superintendent James Afalla, Solano police chief, and Senior Inspector Dennis Artil, chief of Camp Crame’s firearms and explosives unit, was armed with search and arrest warrants from Judge Jose Rosales of the local Regional Trial Court.

Among those confiscated from the illegal gun shop located in an isolated lot in Barangay Roxas, were six caliber .38 revolvers, four caliber .22 pistols, a Thompson submachine gun, a Japanese pistol and a caliber .45.

Gun parts, ammunition for short and long firearms and equipment for manufacturing and reconditioning firearms were also seized. — Charlie Lagasca
