BINMALEY, Pangasinan The doctor handling medico-legal cases at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) office in Dagupan City, who was tagged as an accomplice in the alleged extortion case involving a top NBI officer, will get back at his accuser by filing a string of cases, including a multi-million libel suit.
Breaking his silence on the issue, Dr. Anthony "Jet" Castro said, " Ill do everything. She destroyed my integrity and honor."
Castro was referring to Dr. Lenet Chan of Barangay Carmen in Rosales town, who was the subject of a complaint of the family of a patient who died on March 10 after undergoing a caesarian operation performed by Chan.
Castro conducted the autopsy on the body of the victim, Alma Victoria, 29, of Sto. Tomas town. Chan allegedly tried to offer bribe money to Castro several times so that she could be furnished with a copy of the autopsy report.
During an entrapment operation on June 14, Dr. Maximo Reyes, the NBIs chief medico-legal officer in Manila, was caught by the NBI, PACER and police operatives accepting P200,000 in bribe money from Chan reportedly to reverse the autopsy report.
Castro stressed that contrary to published reports that he was the one who arranged for the pay-off, he has no knowledge of the incident.
In an interview with the local media in his residence here the other day, Castro said he is going to resign as medico legal officer here. But he is hoping that the NBI will pursue the Victoria case against Chan.
