CALAMBA CITY Four people were killed and two others were injured when the delivery truck they were riding in was hit by a Bicol-bound train here Tuesday night.
Senior Superintendent Generoso Calderon, city police chief, said truck driver Jaime Reclaro and his helpers Danny Rodelos, John Pielago and Bert Quesada died upon impact. All were from Tawiran, Sta. Cruz, Marinduque.
In serious condition at the J.P. Rizal District Hospital here are Victor Rogelio and Diego Peralta.
Calderon said the Isuzu Elf truck, with license plate UCB-366, tried to cross the railroad tracks at high speed to beat the oncoming Peñafrancia Express train.
However, the truck, en route to Katapatan Village in Cabuyao, Laguna, hit the trains front left portion and was dragged some 50 meters away.
Rogelio and Peralta survived because they were at the back of the truck.
