The police director of Laguna is in hot water after Task Force Jericho arrested 20 people during a raid yesterday at a jueteng den in Sta. Cruz town, located only 500 meters away from the police headquarters.
Chief Superintendent Manuel Cabigon, task force head, said Senior Superintendent Edwin Corvera, Laguna police director, should explain in writing why he should not be relieved for allegedly abetting the operations of jueteng in Sta. Cruz town.
According to Cabigon, he will submit his report to Interior and Local Government Secretary Joey Lina and Philippine National Police chief Director General Hermogenes Ebdane Jr.
The STAR tried to reach Corvera for comment, but failed.
The other day, a Task Force Jericho team, headed by Inspector Nilo Santos, raided a jueteng den in Castillejos, Zambales and caught 25 people in the act of drawing the winning number combinations. Non Alquitran
