Batangas councilor shot

TANAUAN CITY, Batangas — A councilor of Talisay town has been fighting for his life since a lone gunman shot him in the head at the parking lot of a grocery store here the other night, authorities said.

Doctors at the CP Reyes Hospital here have given councilor Rene Eugenio, 40, a slim chance of surviving.

Police said Eugenio, his wife Divina and their three children were about to board their owner-type jeep when the gunman approached Eugenio from behind and shot him in the head. — Arnell Ozaeta
