NFA Southern Tagalog urged to hike palay buying

-
National Food Authority Administrator Arthur Yap has given strict orders to the agency’s office in Southern Tagalog to intensify palay buying activities to serve a greater number of farmers in the area. Yap gave the instruction to NFA regional director Joseph dela Cruz during his recent visit in the area hoping that the region will surpass its procurement record last year. The field office has immediately deployed additional mobile buying teams to complement the 434 buying stations the agency has been operating since the onset of palay harvest last February.

Southern Tagalog tops the list of heavy procurement areas at a daily average of 9,060 bags. Since January, the NFA in the region has bought a total of 365,360 bags of palay from individual farmers and farmer organizations.
