The anti-jueteng campaign has claimed another "victim" the police chief of the Batangas town of Mataas na Kahoy.
Philippine National Police chief Director General Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. relieved Chief Inspector Manuel Manalo from his post for failing to curb the illegal numbers game in his municipality.
Manalo was reassigned to the 402nd Provincial Mobile Group.
His relief came after nine men were arrested during a recent raid on a jueteng joint barely 300 meters away from the Mataas na Kahoy police station.
The suspects were caught drawing the days winning jueteng number combinations. Gambling paraphernalia and P800,000 in cash bets were seized from them. Christina Mendez
