Cops nabbed for alleged carnapping

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Two policemen who figured in carnapping were arrested by policemen conducting a checkpoint along the national highway in Barangay Paliwas, Obando, Bulacan, over the weekend.

Senior Superintendent Felizardo Serafio, Bulacan provincial police director identified the alleged carnappers as PO2 Xerces Guese, 32, of Gagalangin, Tondo, Manila and PO2 Ramiro Apilo, 32, a resident of Caloocan City, both members of the Caloocan Police Station.

The two policemen allegedly took a Honda car by force from one Joel Caracas, 22, of Valenzuela City.

Serafio said that Caracas was ordered to sit at the back of the car while one of the policemen took the steering wheel and sped north. Caracas, while approaching a checkpoint, shouted for assistance and Guese was arrested while Apilo managed to escape, police said. After a few hours, Apilo voluntarily surrendered to Obando police authorities.

Recovered from the lawmen were two .9 mm caliber pistols, four magazines and 60 bullets. Obando police have filed appropriate charges in court against the two police officers. Ric Sapnu
