Batangas town exec shot dead

STO. TOMAS, Batangas The secretary of this towns Sangguniang Bayan was gunned down in front of his house yesterday afternoon.
Police said the victim, Rolando Meer, 54, had just come from the municipal hall when a lone gunman pumped bullets into his head at about 2:30 p.m.
Witnesses said the gunman had two companions who served as lookouts a few meters away from the crime scene. All three, they said, escaped on board a blue Toyota Corolla.
Police found seven empty caliber .45 shells at the scene.
Meer was said to be at odds with the municipal councilors. Mayor Armand Sanchez, acting on a resolution of the town council, recently suspended him.
