Authorities have arrested a US military deserter accused of sex crimes, the immigration bureau said yesterday.
Chad Everett Scheller, 27, will be deported today at the request of the US embassy here, immigration chief Andrea Domingo said in a statement.
Scheller was assigned to a US Air Force missile squadron in Montana when he was arrested in 2001 and later sentenced to 10 years probation in Texas after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault.
He violated the conditions of his probation and failed to meet sex offender registration requirements, prompting a Texas county court to order his arrest for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, Domingo said.
