Flash floods hit Compostela barangays

DAVAO CITY Flash floods triggered by incessant rains in the past few days have swept through parts of Compostela Valley, affecting at least 1,080 families.
Worst hit are five barangays in Maco town, namely Bucana, Binuwasan, Hijom, Pangi and Panibasan, where a wooden bridge collapsed, the regional civil defense office said.
Civil defense personnel have been alerted on reported flooding in the towns of Boston, Caraga and Manay in Davao Oriental.
Indiscriminate logging has been blamed for the recurrent floods not only in Compostela Valley but also in the Agusan and Surigao provinces. Edith Regalado
