Missing Korean ends up dead

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — The decomposing body of a Korean businessman missing since Jan. 12 was found hanging from a tree near a cliff in Aritao town the other day, bearing three gunshot wounds in the back.

Chief Inspector Johnny Baguidudol, Aritao police chief, said residents of Barangay Kirang, about 35 kilometers from the Aritao town proper, found the body of 52-year-old Jeong Ga Chun and his Kia Besta van near a 50-meter deep ravine.

Probers said Jeong, manager of Seoul Motor Corp. based in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, was stripped of his cash and valuables and could have been killed elsewhere.

Baguidudol said there were no traces of blood inside Jeong’s van or in the vicinity where his remains were found.

Police recovered about 100 meters from the site Jeong’s wallet containing a temporary driver’s license, a photocopy of his visa, a notebook and a check for P50,000. — Charlie Lagasca
