Senior Superintendent Noe Ong, chief of staff of the Central Luzon police, discovered the missing firecrackers when he went to inspect them at the former office of the Military Intelligence Group (MIG).
The padlock of the former MIG office was still intact, but the culprits had destroyed the door.
Task Force Paputok of the Region 3 police, headed by Senior Superintendent Danilo Alcoreza, seized the firecrackers in raids on illegal manufacturers from Dec. 7 to Dec. 27.
The seized items were turned over to the logistics division of the regional police led by Senior Superintendent Rex Milton Dolino.
Chief Superintendent Oscar Calderon, Central Luzon police director, has ordered a thorough investigation into the missing firecrackers.
The regional investigation division has invited all personnel of the regional logistics division to shed light on the missing items.
A source said Camp Olivas guards were also placed under investigation.
