Cebu City reaches out to taxpayers
January 2, 2003 | 12:00am
CEBU CITY For the convenience of taxpayers and to ensure effective revenue collection, the city treasurers office is implementing a revenue outreach program starting this month.
City treasurer Ofelia Oliva said this new collection method and strategy is in line with the thrust of bringing the city government closer to the people.
Under the program, taxpayers can apply and renew permits at eight satellite stations located at department stores and malls, namely, the Gaisano Country Mall, Gaisano South, Gaisano Metro, Robinsons Place, Rustans Supermarket, Mango Square, Ayala Center and SM City.
Oliva said those applying for or renewing their business permits need to comply with the requirements enumerated in a checklist also found in these stations, put them in a sealed brown envelope with the applicants name and contact number, and hand it over to the assigned teller-marketer.
She said taxpayers are given 60 days to submit all the requirements but they can pay the fees even before full compliance.
The satellite stations will issue payment forms, which the taxpayers have to present to the governments depository bank upon payment of their dues.
Business taxes can be paid at the Philippine Commercial and Industrial Bank branches at Gaisano Country Mall and along Juan Luna street. Community tax certificate payments can also be made there. Freeman News Service
