DAR seeks military, police help on CARP

To ensure that the government meets its land distribution targets, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has sought the help of the police and the military in the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

In a joint circular, the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department National Defense agreed to support DAR in implementing its projects and programs, including CARP.

Agrarian Reform Secretary Hernani Braganza said the move would result in the distribution of more CARP lands since the assistance of the police and the military would help the Presidential Agrarian Reform Council (PARC) exercise its functions, especially in areas when landowners resist CARP coverage of their estates.
