CARMONA, Cavite Police filed Friday charges of attempted murder against four men, including the vice mayor of this town, in connection with the bombing of the office of Mayor Roy Loyola Thursday night.
Superintendent Mariano Manaog, Carmona police chief, identified those accused of attempting to kill Loyola as Vice Mayor Amador Alumia, his younger brother Dante alias "Dennis," his former bodyguard Dominador Algordo and his driver Wilmer Acebeda.
Aside from the attempted murder charges filed before Judge Maria Rosario Ragasca of the Carmona Municipal Trial Court, Algordo was also charged with illegal possession of explosives and ammunition following his confession at the Philippine General Hospital where he was taken for treatment of second degree burns and dismembered fingers when the bomb he was carrying exploded prematurely.
Police recovered at the bomb site a hand grenade, a cellular phone, small bottles containing gasoline, electrical cord and other parts of explosive devices.
Dante Alumia and Acebeda posted bail of P60,000 each for their temporary release, while the vice mayor remains at large.
Manaog said he suspected that the bombing of Loyolas office at the municipal building was part of a plot to assassinate Loyola.
Loyola told The STAR that Alumia had an axe to grind against him as he had filed several graft charges against Alumia. Rene Alviar
