2 of 3 Olongapo jailbreakers still being hunted

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Three detainees escaped from a police precinct in Olongapo City last weekend, by substituting their cell’s padlock with a similar one which they had asked one of their visitors to buy. Only one of them has been recaptured.

Senior Superintendent Orlando Maddela Jr., Olongapo police chief, identified the escapees as Butch Ace Peña, a robbery suspect; Ireneo Capones, who is facing charges of illegal possession of illegal drugs; and Noel Brigania, who is charged with theft.

Peña was subsequently arrested in Barangay Caarusipan in San Felipe, Zambales.

The jail guard on duty during the jailbreak has been placed under technical arrest, while the other night-shift personnel have been relieved from their posts. — Ric Sapnu
