Recall election in Puerto today
September 24, 2002 | 12:00am
Incumbent Puerto Princesa City Mayor Dennis Socrates is pitted against his predecessor, three-termer Edward Hagedorn, and Sandy Sandoval in todays recall election.
The city has 73,470 registered voters, and 420 precincts and 58 voting centers.
Telibert Laoc, executive director of the National Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel), said the Comelec finally authorized them to conduct a quick count for the recall poll only yesterday afternoon.
But as of press time, Namfrel has yet to receive a copy of the official accreditation. Laoc said he only learned about it through a radio report.
But he said Comelec Commissioner Luzviminda Tancangco was the one who approved Namfrels quick count. Sandy Araneta
