GENERAL SANTOS CITY Authorities believe they have busted a big-time drug syndicate here when its leader was killed in a shootout with elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the regional police the other day.
The composite team reported to Chief Superintendent Jose Dalumpines, Central Mindanao police director, that the syndicate leader, Modin Alang, with aliases Kumander Bravo, Sanggoting Maacal and Sadam, first fired at them, triggering a shootout, when he was cornered in Barangay Buayan, a known lair of drug pushers here.
