2 shot dead in separate incidents

SAN PABLO CITY — Two persons, including the district examiner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) here, were fatally shot in two separate incidents here yesterday.

BIR District Examiner Graciano Balubal, 42, a resident of Parconville Subdivision here, was gunned down by two motorcycle-riding men while on the way to his office aboard his Toyota Car at about 7:30 a.m. yesterday.

Balubal succumbed to four gunshot wounds on the head and body and died while being rushed to the San Pablo City District Hospital.

Police recovered from the victim’s car a show-cause letter addressed to the management of Unilab Metals, Inc. located at Barangay Bangkal, Carmona, Cavite, warning the firm to immediately pay its tax arrearages.

The letter may lead to the motive of the killing, police said.

About three hours prior to Balubal’s killing, Barangay Tanod chief Joselito Chavez was fatally shot by still unknown assailants reportedly while in the act of raping a young girl.

The incident happened at about 5:30 a.m. yesterday inside a house of a supposed rape victim along Rizal Street this city.

Police were still checking the veracity whether the victim was gunned down by the brother of the alleged rape victim who witnessed the incident. — Rene Alviar
