Bolinao bangus trade gets support

Top agriculture officials expressed support for the aquaculture development of Bolinao, Pangasinan in a fisherfolk consultation there recently.
President Adviser on Agricultural Modernization Angelito Sarmiento visited the towns booming aquaculture trade area and threw his support behind the efforts of local officials led by Mayor Jesus Celeste.
Celeste said that in spite of the meager resources of the municipal government, aquaculture has become the towns leading source of livelihood, shipping an average of 60 tons of milkfish (bangus) to Navotas and other Metro Manila markets.
He, however, decried the seeming imbalance in the distribution of government resources between land-based agriculture and fisheries, aquaculture in particular.
